CH JUMOKE QUITA DREAM OF INDIA

India
is the first female Basenji I have ever owned. I purchases her
from Bryan and Laurie Gregory (www.jumoke.com))
as a puppy in February 2002. She is definitely the Queen of the
household and probably a little spoiled too. The term 'aloof
with strangers' does not apply to Indy, she is very affectionate
with anybody that will pay attention to her. She is not however,
thrilled with strange dogs - especially other female Basenjis.
For this reason India is easily distracted in the show ring and
not much of a showman. It is a good thing India has such
wonderful movement and structure, because she wasn't going to
impress most judges with her lack of enthusiasm in the show
ring. Getting India's singles was easy. The majors were the problem
since there are limited majors my area during the summer Despite this she received
her first major at the Willamette Valley Basenji
Club Specialty, going Best Opp. over 39 other bitches (9 of them
being specials). The next weekend she was reserve to 55 bitches
at the Evergreen Basenji Club Specialty. I was 7 months pregnant
at the time and stopped showing for a time after that show. India finally finished her Championship
during the weekend of the Hoosier Basenji Club
Specialty in 2006. Now she gets to stay home and be a lap
and trail dog.
I ndia's
favorite pastimes are eating, bossing Texas around, eating,
cuddling, and eating. We have found India to be a very trainable
dog as long as we have treats. Without the food she looks at us
like we are crazy, but will sometimes humor us and perform
anyway. She is however the best horse riding companion we have
ever owned. I have never met a more affectionate dog then our
little Indy.
